A Windy Spring

Today is a day for getting things done, I can feel it! Yesterday, pretty much all day, I could hear the wind whistling through the branches of the lilac bushes outside my window, buffeting them against the side of our fence. The sound was strangely melodic.

Right now I'm reading one of my favorite writing-on-writing books, "How to Write a Mystery," by Larry Beinhart. One reason I love the book is it's so positive, it is like a pep talk:

If you can write a clear sentence, if you can organize your thoughts, if you know the field and love it, and if you will make the commitment, you can probably write a salable book (p. 3).

Yes! Whenever I think to myself, "This is ridiculous! What makes me think that _I_ could write a book," I whip out Beinhart's book and re-read it.

Well, now I'm going to go and do _at least_ 1,000 words on my current writing project. Talk to you later. :)

Friday!

Yea! I've decided to celibate this particular Friday by starting a blog. I am now a blogger. I blog. Heh.

I remember the first time I heard the word "blogging" (low these many years ago) I thought of a couple of men slogging through a bog. I'm sure this will be much less effortful than that ... hopefully.

Over the next few days and weeks I hope to post here many more times and hopefully get to know lots of other people in the writing community.

Chow for now. :)
